Hanks is presented with an Aston Villas shirt by new manager Paul Lambert

Tom Hanks (Catch Me If You Can, Forest Gump) in 2001 revealed he was a huge fan of the English Premier league team Aston Villa and after 11 years he finally got a chance to see the English club play when Aston Villa played a pre-season friendly with the Portland Timbers at the Jeld-Wen Stadium.

The actor who reportedly flew in from California accompanied by his son, actor Colin Hanks  (Orange County, King Kong) also got to toss the pre-match coin and at the end of the day got to chat with some of the Aston Villa players… While i can’t help but wonder why he chose to support Villa though, its a good thing Aston Villa won the match.

Check out pictures from his trip to Jeld-Wen Stadium after the jump.
