The release date for Steve McQueen‘s upcoming historical drama, 12 Years a Slave, has been set for December 27th. The movie which was also written by McQueen alongside John Ridley is an adaptation of Solomon Northup’s 1853 autobiography of the same title.
Chiwetel Ejiofor takes the lead in this movie playing Solomon Northup, an educated free black man who was kidnapped while on business in Washington D.C in 1841 and sold into slavery. He worked on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before his release came in 1953.
Ejiofor is joined by some of the finest actors around for this movie amongst which are Michael Fassbender (Shame), Brad Pitt (World War Z), Adepero Oduye (Pariah), Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts Of The Southern Wild), Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man), Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story), Michael K Williams (Boardwalk Empire) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness)
