Premiere date for Season 3 of Luther (Idris Elba) Announced by BBC America

Finally, News of when Idris Elba would return as DCI John Luther for the third season of the award-winning TV series- Luther has been put out. BBC America recently made it known that Luther will be back for another gripping season from the 3rd of September 2013 at 10pm/9c and would air for 4 consecutive nights i.e September 3, 4, 5 & 6.

The statement posted on the BBC website which revealed the synopsis for this third season and also confirmed that this season would have a love interest for Luther called Mary (played by Sienna Guillory). Can’t wait to see what Alice makes of that.

Check out the synopsis from BBC America below.

John Luther, the near-genius detective struggling to cope with his own demons, is back under intense pressure – with two conflicting crimes to investigate and a ruthless ex-cop determined to bring him down. Luther’s life is his job, that is until love crosses his path and offers him a chance of happiness. Sienna Guillory (“Resident Evil,” “Love Actually”) joins the cast as Mary, a woman who works in a vintage clothing shop and meets Luther in a chance encounter. But is Mary ready to accept Luther’s past? And can Luther leave it behind?

A self-destructive near-genius, John Luther might just be as dangerous as the depraved criminals he hunts. Luther shines a light into the hearts and minds of psychopaths and killers … and the shadowy spaces of his own soul.

The series is created by Neil Cross and executive produced by Phillippa Giles.

While i can’t remember the exact running interval for the previous seasons, i doubt if it was aired in this manner as this seems to be some sort of message from BBC “Hey, okay you wanted Season 3 so here it is. Now are you happy?“… But then again what’s there to complain about. As long as Luther is heading back to the TV screens, that’s fine by me.
