Sylvester Stallone on his Facebook page today shared a piece of information which helped put to rest a topic of discussion, “Would there be a 3rd installment to The Expendables and is Nicholas Cage going to be a part of it as rumored?”
After making about $289,450,701 from The Expendables 2 (which had a budget of $100 million), it’s no surprise that a 3rd installment is being worked on. However the question remains who and who will be involved as Chuck Norris has mentioned he wont be appearing in it.
According to Stallone, Nic Cage who hasn’t had the best of movie roles recently would be in the 3rd installment while they are currently trying to secure Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones, Aliens & Cowboys), Mickey Rourke who appeared in the original Expendables movie and Wesley Snipes who played the villain in the 1993 sci-fi flick Demolition Man alongside Stallone. “We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I can not guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing ‘The Expendables’. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want.”
Well if Sly Stallone is really considering Wesley Snipes for a part in the movie, he would have to wait until Snipes gets out of prison next year as the actor is scheduled for release on July 19, 2013.
