LOST Creator & Director Of Star Trek, J.J Abrams, To Direct Star Wars: Episode VII
It’s the News many people have been waiting for, the announcement of the who gets to direct the upcoming Star Wars VII movie for Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm and according to The Wrap that’s J.J Abrams.
I certainly didn’t expect J.J to be named as the man for the job and i never for once thought Ben Affleck who was mentioned by The Wrap to have been in contention for the job had a chance at it.
A while back J.J Abrams had this to say about directing the project “Look, Star Wars is one of my favorite movies of all time. I frankly feel that – I almost feel that, in a weird way, the opportunity for whomever it is to direct that movie, it comes with the burden of being that kind of iconic movie and series. I was never a big Star Trek fan growing up, so for me, working on Star Trek didn’t have any of that, you know, almost fatal sacrilege, and so, I am looking forward more then anyone to the next iterations of Star Wars, but I believe I will be going as a paying moviegoer!”
While Star Wars Episode VII wont be hitting the cinema’s until 2015 J.J Abrams next movie Star Trek: Into The Darkness which stars Chris Pine & Zachary Quinto will be out May 17, 2013.Source: The Wrap
