British-Nigerian actor John Boyega has scored a new acting gig which sees him playing the act actor in an upcoming biopic on Olympic athlete Jesse Owens titled Race.
According to Variety, Race which is being developed by Forecast Pictures, will focus on how Owens, the son of an Alabama sharecropper, shattered Adolf Hitler’s myth of Aryan supremacy at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by winning a record four gold medals in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the long jump and the 400-meter relay. Owens’ victories are considered among the greatest atlhetic feats of all time.
Stephen Hopkins (Ghost and the Darkness) who will be directirng the movie whose script was developed by Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel had this to say about working with Boyega “John Boyega is definitely one of the most exciting young actors working today and I am thrilled to have him on board to play the iconic role of Jesse Owens in ‘Race”
The 21year-old John Boyega who is popularly referred to as “Young Denzel” has appeared in a number of movies such as Attack the Block & Half of A Yellow Sun has been getting a recommendations and props for his acting talent and hopefully this one puts him on the bigger scene when it finally gets released.Source: Variety
