A Nollywood director in Malaysia was yesterday sentenced to serve 15years in prison by a High Court Justice, Abdul Alim Abdullah, after being arrested with 2.4 kg of methamphetamine aka Meth in his possession.
Before taking Ifeanyi Johnpaul Aguonu, 38, away to be locked up, he was first of all issued 10 strokes of the cane for bringing the drugs into Malaysia without fear.
From all indications Ifeanyi would have gotten more than the 15-years sentence as the judge went on to explain the Nollywood director’s situation to him; “Our country has a strict rule when it comes to drugs, that the law provides a death penalty for drug trafficking. If you are convicted of a capital offence here, you could have been hung from the neck until you die. But you’ve been saved from the gallows because your counsel sent a representation and the Attorney-General Chambers agreed to give you an alternative charge,”
