Picture This: Ex-Aston Villa Footballer John Carew Turns Actor

It seems former Aston Villa footballer, John Carew, who last played soccer professionally for West Ham last season has finally hung his football boots as he switches lanes to a totally unrelated occupation, acting.

Carew isn’t the first footballer to star in a movie as i remember seeing Pele alongside Michael Caine & Sylvester Stallone in the 1981 movie Victory while another former footballer, Vinnie Jones (Mean Machines,  X-Men: The Last Stand) is another familiar face in movies.

The footballer posted a picture of himself holding a decapitated head standing in the middle of two people, with the caption: “First day of shooting done #KillingTime #RobertRice #KimBerlin movie of 2013, watch out!”

From all indication Carew seems to think he could have a career in acting as he revealed to a Norwegian tabloid Dagbladet “I think I have ‘it’, and ‘it’ is what you need to be successful in the film industry.”

Details of the movie are yet to be revealed however Carew has told us thus far, his involvement in it “I will be here filming for a month. I can’t say much about the film until the project gets more developed, but it’s an action-thriller movie.”
