Ace Nigerian director Kunle Afolayan (Figurine, Phone Swap) is currently working on his next movie, October 1, developed by Tunde Babalola which is centered around the events of October 1st 1960 and has been reported to have a budget of $2 Million.
Afolayan is no newbie to hit movies which is why the amount budgeted for the completion of this movie of his will not attract as much noise as it would have if it was another Nigerian based movie director. However with this huge sum of money for a Nigerian movie, and with the plot outline, this is certainly one movie whose development should be followed.
Here is the synopsis for the upcoming movie;
A psychological thriller detailing the activities of a northern police detective, Dan Waziri who was posted to the western region to unravel the mystery behind a series of female murders in the community. He soon discovers that the prime suspect is Aderopo, the prince of the community. Waziri, however does not have plenty of time as he is expected to bring the Prince to book before the Nigerian flag is raised on October 1.
The exact release date for this movie is unknown. However seeing as the poster for the movie has been made available online, it’s only a matter of time before we get more details about October 1.
