A while back we started a little something on Movie Markers called “Whats HOT On TV” and “Whats Not So HOT On TV” to help you choose what to tune to on TV and this would focus on different TV series which are currently showing on TV, just got cancelled/put on hold or just got completed.

Homeland is one of those series i heard about a while back but for some reason just couldn’t be bothered to check it out as i already had a couple i was watching like FRINGE. The first 2 episodes changed my mind. Here’s why i think Homeland is one of the series that’s hot on TV

homeland

Homeland

Starring: Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Morena Baccarin, David Harewood
Genre: Thriller
Premiere Date: October 2, 2011

Synopsis
M.I.A. in Afghanistan for eight years and subjected to unthinkable torture at the hands of al-Qaeda, Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) is finally coming home. CIA officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) believes he has been turned and become part of a plot to be carried out on American soil. But the volatile Carrie has some demons of her own. Nothing is as it seems in HOMELAND, an edge-of-your-seat thriller that also stars Emmy® winner Mandy Patinkin.

Why it’s HOT!
Best way to describe this would be to say Homeland is an action packed series which has a female version of 24‘s Jack Bauer as the lead. Carrie Mathison is strong-headed and won’t drop any case she comes across which makes you hate her and love her as she gets the job done.

The first and second seasons have the same antagonist however the writers make you feel it is bigger than what you already know by adding twists at some least expected places which would keep you at the edge of your seat while watching this series.

Each season has just 12 episodes based on a cat and mouse chase between the CIA agents and the terrorists they’re going after suitable for those that love action and thriller flicks.
