South African company dubbed Africa’s Pixar- Triggerfish Animation Studios which created the hit animation Zambezi, has finished working on its second feature film titled Khumba which is also animal-themed and they have put out a teaser trailer for people to look at.
Khumba which was directed by Anthony Silverston who also helped pen the script, stars the voices of Jake T. Austin, Anna-Sophia Robb, Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) and Liam Neeson (Taken).
While Khumba does sound a lot like Simba the main character in the classic animation Lion King, the story is totally different and goes in two separate directions which should help deter more people from saying triggerfish couldn’t come up with ideas for their own animated movie.
Here’s the plot outline followed by the trailer;
When a half-striped zebra is blamed for the drought he leaves his herd in search of his missing stripes. He is joined on his quest by an overprotective, sassy wildebeest and a flamboyant, neurotic ostrich, and defeats the sadistic leopard who has been terrorizing all the animals of the Karoo.
It’s not all black and white in this colorful adventure with a difference!
